Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy/Warning

In order to be considered to be making Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) a student must maintain a grade point average of at least 75% and be in attendance at least 67% of the scheduled hours for a course. students will be evaluated at the end of each payment period (at the midpoint and end of an academic year for students not receiving Title IV funding.) Students who meet the minimum quantitative (attendance) and qualitative (academic) requirements will be considered to be making satisfactory academic progress until the next scheduled evaluation. Students found to not be maintaining minimum SAP requirements will be subject to the following.

  1. A student who does not meet SAP requirements for a payment period will be placed on Financial Aid Warning. The student will be considered to still be in SAP until the next evaluation and is eligible to receive Financial Aid for the subsequent payment period.
  2. A student who is on Financial Aid Warning and fails to meet SAP requirements or the next evaluation is considered to not be in SAP and loses their Financial Aid eligibility. The student is allowed to appeal their ineligible status by submitting and appeal letter to the school Director that explains why the student did not meet SAP requirements on the basis of: his/her injury or illness, the death of a relative, or other special circumstances. The appeal must explain why he/she failed to make satisfactory progress at the next evaluation. If, through the appeal process; it is determined that the student should be able to meet the minimum SAP requirements by the end of the subsequent payment period the student will be placed on Financial Aid Probation, is considered to be in SAP and is eligible to receive Financial Aid for the subsequent payment period.
  3. A student who is on Financial Aid Probation and fails to meet SAP requirements for the next evaluation is considered to not be in SAP and loses their Financial Aid eligibility. The student will not be eligible to receive Financial Aid until the student has met the minimum SAP requirements by increasing their attendance and/or GPA (cash payment may be required during this period.) This policy is established and maintained for all students in attendance at the school enrolled in a COE approved program and/or receiving Title IV funds. This policy complies with the guidelines established by The Council on Occupational Education (COE) and the federal regulations established by the United States Department of Education. All students receiving Title IV funding must be in Satisfactory Academic Progress in order to continue to receive funding.


All assignments, tests and homework may be made up by the student in the event that the student fails to take the test at the appropriate test day. The student will come to the office and fill out information as to the reason why a particular test was not taken. Any deviation from the policy must be in writing from the office and signed by member of administrative staff.

Transfer Policy:

Invictus Career College  accepts transfer students with previous credit hours (not to exceed 600 hours) from another Licensed Barber College or School with the following reservations: If a student transfers to Invictus Career College after an interruption, BBS shall notify the Texas Department of Licensing & Regulations, and a new student certificate will be issued. The Texas Department of Licensing & Regulation requires that BBS furnish the name of the school from which the student transferred, and the approximate date of enrollment in that school. A student will then be re-evaluated upon completing an application for transfer by the school administration and based on hours needed to complete program under the state law.

  1. Hours to be transferred must not be over 600 clock hours (barber course)
  2. Students seeking to transfer must give valid reasons why they want to transfer
  3. Students must pay a registration fee not to exceed $150 and an additional clock hour cost identified before enrollment for remaining program hours.
  4. Student housing is not available
  5. There are no program tranfer within Invictus Career College.

If the prospective student is a transfer or returning student they must meet the following additional criteria:

  • If he/she is transferring hours from another school, he/she will be asked to provide a transcript clearly stating the number of accrued hours and verify that tuition is paid or unpaid at the school most recently attended.
  • If the prospective student is transferring instructional hours from a school in another state, acceptance of such hours is contingent on approval and acceptance by TDLR for the course offered by Invictus Career College.
  • Transfer students will not be allowed to enroll without valid documentation of having officially withdrawn from school previously attended.
  • Tuition charges will be prorated based on hours needed to complete the course at BBS. Financial aid is available for transfer students that qualify.
  • Students who have previously withdrawn from Invictus Career College and are in good standing are eligible to apply for re-enrollment.

Outstanding balance owed the school must be tendered before being allowed to re-enroll and/or complete remainder of required hours.

Prior to admission:

  • Students may contact admissions personnel by telephone, fax, email, or visit the facility.
  • If the perspective student is a dependent minor they must be accompanied by a parent and or legal guardian at the time of enrollment
  • The prospective student interviews with a school official and is given an enrollment questionnaire packet, which they are required to read, understand and sign. Applicant may ask for clarification of questions etc.
  • The interview covers in detail, course description, career opportunities, physical demands of the job, as well as the school and State Board requirements.
  • An explanation on attendance and academic requirements will be given to the prospective student and how those requirements can affect the student’s satisfactory performance requirements and continued Title IV eligibility.
  • The prospective student will be informed that accrued hours will not be released until all funds owed BBS are paid in full.
  • A staff member or instructor will give the prospective student a tour of the school facilities.
  • Any questions from the prospective student will be answered truthfully, promptly and in sufficient detail to eliminate confusion.
  • If the potential student expresses a desire to become a student with BBS a follow-up appointment is scheduled, the second appointment focuses on answering questions where applicable, an enrollment agreement between perspective student and BBS will be fully executed (student receives copy for their record). Student is made aware of class schedule, dress code, consumer information including but not limited to outcome rates, campus crime report, and all other pertinent information.
